These are 2 designs of Pneumatic to Midi convertor Units. THIS IS ON E-BAY !!

The 1st consists of 88 Leather "Pouches" that operate Phosphur bronze Switches.

The second uses "Low Pressure" Switches.

Either one can be used on "Vacuum" or "Pressure" systems.

The completed Convertor, converts Pneumatic ( Vacuum or Pressure ) to electrical impulses that can be taken to a Midi Encoder.

These are some of the 88 pouches & contacts. --the pouches inflate, and push the contact strips up to contact a "Busbar" above them.

The 4mm tubes go to the pianola Trackerbar via "T" pieces, so the piano can be played, also the switches can be operated.

the "Phosphur Bronze" strips are the switch outputs, wires from these go to the Midi encoder, there is also a "Common" wire.

You can see the common wires here. The single wires from the individual switches go to the input of the Encoder, the RED common wire goes to the common on the encoder. Encoders convert electrical signals into MIDI signals.

These are the machined "pouch" Holes.

A closer look @ the pouch holes, with the 4mm Brass actuating tubes fitted.

The pouch leather glued to the pouches.

Pouch leather close up, the small Holes in the foreground are the "Brass Bleed nipples",these make sure the pouches "deflate".

the Phosphor bronze "contact" strips.

contacts with Silver wire soldered to the end, + Brass tubes & Bleed nipples.

One completed "Layer", there are Four layers each having 22 contacts.

Again, a close-up. BELOW ARE A FEW Photos of the convertor which uses the "pressure" switches.

BELOW IS THE UNIT THAT USES "Pressure" Switches.

The completed Convertor.

It's only just been started, and I am waiting for more of the "low Pressure" switches.

These are the pressure switches, the whole unit can be used on either "Vacuum " (player piano) OR "Pressure" (Player organ).

These are the "Brass" tubes which go to the "T" pieces fitted into the trackerbar pipes.

As you can see, there are 88 brass tubes.

This is the Vacuum pipe, this is left open to the atmoshere for pressure use, and connected to a Vacuum source for Player pianos.

You can see the "pipe" clearly here, and the physical size of the unit.

All the Brass inlet pipes.

This is not yet completed, but WILL be for sale when it is.
